5 Tips on How to Set Your Child to Study After Holiday
Vacations have always been the most favorite time for students. Especially the summer ones that suggest so much fun and adventure opportunities. For the parents of students, however, holidays are not so much fun for many reasons. They should provide supervision for the child during a time when he will not be involved in school. They should also properly allocate his time between fun and learning. But one of the main problems parents have always been how to motivate a child to study again after vacation. If you have similar problems, here are some tips that will help you.

Vacations and Entertainment

Yes, vacations are really fun time, just like your kids say. However, you also take leave with the idea of having a pleasant time, not working, right? So do not turn off the entertainment and fill the child's time entirely with activities of your choice. But to make his spare time as complete as possible, direct him to those activities that are related to his interests and future goals. For example, if your child loves to paint and wants to study at a specialized school - sign him up for appropriate courses that will develop his talent and prepare him for the entrance exams. But very often parents simply do not have time or opportunity to create a proper and balanced free time regime and learning for their children. So:
  1. Study - as of the beginning of the year, inform yourself when your child's holidays are and how long each one lasts;
  2. Plan. - make an example plan of activities according to the duration of holidays and their location in the school year. For example, in the early holidays you can include activities with an object where your child is behind. Don't miss the sport. Vacation is no reason for children to stop sports. In summer vacation you can distribute the appropriate books for reading, lessons in subjects that are important for your child's future goals. And so is Language Coursesto help him progress or simply absorb material that has remained misunderstood at school. Of course, do not miss your general vacation planning.
  3. Share - Don't miss to discuss your plan with the student. So you will not just prepare him mentally that his vacations will not only be free from learning time, but will also get his opinion on whether your chosen activities are interesting and useful according to him.

How to Motivate Back

Not always such a good organization is possible, and there is no guarantee that you will succeed in achieving the one hundred percent planned. Besides, after holidays long or short, children always return to school with reluctance. It is perfectly natural, but still not particularly beneficial. Here are some tips on how to motivate them again:
    1. Talking about school. Put them in your daily life especially when the end of the vacation is near. Do not turn this subject into a very demanding talk. Just talk to your child by encouraging him to consider different aspects of the coming year - important exams, objects that are related to future goals, such as a language with which they want to apply to a foreign university
    2. Shopping for school Usually after a long summer vacation, children are growing up and need new clothes and shoes. Do this shopping together by listening to their preferences. Talk about the pleasant emotions that await them at school. Ask them not only if a garment is comfortable, but whether it is modern. Buy them suitable clothes for a party with your classmates, so you can remind them that alongside the lessons school will meet them again with friends.
    3. Light their interest If your child refuses to read school literature, for example, try to provoke his curiosity. Tell him a funny story from your childhood about a book. Or part of the book itself, but so that it can start reading it. If he likes computer games, talk about how and who created them and provoke him to think about how he can acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for it.
    4. Smoothly return their habits A few weeks earlier, make sure that you restore their habits to rise and lie down at a certain time. You can use different tricks, such as allowing them to play one hour more on the computer if they follow the mode. Give them small homework in various items that you consider appropriate. If your children are already teenagers, you can make these activities more attractive in the form of a presentation - to explore a destination - a city or natural landmark, endangered animal or species, simple chemical or biological experiment, book.
    5. Teach them to plan and allocate their time Usually during school, they are quite involved with the classes themselves, additional lessons, sports or other extracurricular activities and get used to spending their time so that they can stay for homework. But vacations erase these habits. So get them ready early. Give them household chores along with what they need to do for the day and is related to the study material. So they will have to organize themselves in order to have time, read a book, arrange their room and hang out with friends, for example.

Prizes or penalties

Psychologists warn that punishment is not a proper way of raising. And that's for sure. But it is a very good way to show your children that unfulfilled tasks, neglected commitments and responsibilities can lead to real losses and trouble in real life. Yet, this is not about reprimanding, severe punishment or fighting. Just strip them of some belongings or favorite entertainment for a while to feel the effect. But always set strict limits for yourself to observe. For example, if the penalty is a day's deprivation of phone, let it be just as much, no more or less.
Of course, when they have done the tasks they have been assigned, do not miss the encouragement. You don't have to talk them into doing anything about a promise of a material reward. But when they systematically show discipline, responsibility and diligence, find the right way to encourage them.  And remember that at whatever age your child is, it always needs your attention most and learn more from your example than from your instruction. So if you want to get him into something that you think will help him in the future, you can start teaching him together. Foreign languages, for example, are always useful regardless of age. So don't delay and get write a language course at the Language School . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
