8 + 1 strategies for effective online learning

8 + 1 strategies for effective online learning
Starting a course, whether present or online, students have the opportunity to take control of the academic environment. Many who first encounter online learning have difficulty getting used to this form. To help you in the process we provide tips and strategies for effective online learning.

Treat the course as if it were present

Whether you are in the classroom or in the comfort of your home, during the course you should be disciplined. It's much easier not to join the online class than not to show up on site because we think we'll be left undetected. After all, when a start of training is given, responsibility is needed to get the maximum benefit from it.

Treat Jobs and Homework Responsiblely

Both attendees and online courses have self-preparation assignments. Set up to distribute these assignments over time, not at the last minute.
  • Non-transmitting homework and assignments due to technical problems
In our platform, homework can be transmitted through
    • the personal profile through the sector . In the field . .Doss . write your teacher's name as written in the platform. You can send your homework as a message or as an attachment to the message. This option is recommended for group training.

    • The sector . .Self work . in each of the lessons in your course. You can also attach your homework file there. This option can be used for individual students.
Instructions for sending a self-employed job   In case of technical problems or navigation difficulties, ask us. If there is a technical problem, you can always send the assignment by email and later be uploaded to the profile.
  • Forgotten Home
The main goal of teachers is to teach the material. Every course they take is with different people, different characters. Therefore, they need to focus on teaching strategies and not on reminding self-preparation. It is a personal responsibility and a matter of self-discipline for every student.

First read

When you start a course online, you get guidelines for using the training platform. If they are not enough, ask to make a demo with an interface clarification. Keep notes and try to remember what the options are. If you still have a problem, you can always ask again. Thus, you will save time that can be spent studying the material.

Watch the recordings from the classes.

One of the biggest conveniences for online courses is that everything is available on record. Try to review at least once more past classes, you will see many things that you have missed and your own behavior. This will help you complete your lesson notes and hear a re-explaining explanation.

Follow netiquette

In both living and online, there are rules of communication.
  • Get to the point of substance;
  • turn off the microphone to remove noise pollution when listening and you do not need to talk;
  • do not be critical of people in the group who have difficulties;
  • be wide open - try to think of the course as one, help others;
  • Don't get into a fight with the participants in the training.

Remove Distractions

Studying at home, with family around can be distracting. So during the lecture try to isolate yourself. Do not start any household work immediately before or during the course. Make sure that the household members know you need peace.

Get yourself a place.

Often, the attitude for learning is lacking when we associate a place with rest. Separate the corner in the home that is suited for training. The sofa or bed may be very comfortable, but the semi-slat position does not help concentration. Moreover, in a video link it interferes with other participants. Take a seated position, replace your pajamas for a more formal garment and go into the course with all your concentration.

Take a look at the additional resources

Very often, additional resources are provided for self-preparation at each course. They are not a mandatory element, but their use can bring you great benefit. The platform of the language school "Omega" are:
  • an online library with adapted books;
  • access to the books in interactive version with all videos, audio files and exercises;
