  • today (now), this week/month/year . . . with the expressions it shows the action that took place within the specified time period;

The main sign of the Present Perfect is also the presence in its structure of having/has, as well as past communion of the verb (third form often ending on - ed).

The current perfect time is actually the connection between our past and present. We can talk about our achievements and goals, tell stories of our lives, etc. If we use it properly, we'll sound more natural and be better understood.

Examples of everyday life for correct use of Present Perfect

The form of Present Perfect, which is used in real conversations, has no complex structure and is a combination of the auxiliary verb have/has with past communion such as missing, made, taken, transmitted, etc.

  • " Have you ever been to Paris? "Have you ever been to Paris) . . . when it comes to something that has happened in our lives until now;
  • I've known her since we were kids.I have known her since we were children) "Significating actions that have begun in the past and which are still ongoing;
  • I've already eaten.I have already eaten)

How to strengthen knowledge about Present Perfect?

To master the Present Perfect very well, it requires regular exercise, especially in real situations. Before that you must have mastered its structure and understood in which cases it is appropriate to use it. You also need to pay particular attention to the incorrect verbs, because past communion is formed from them by adding -ed, and to distinguish Present Perfect from Simple Past.

To the exercises and techniques you can practice, include for example:

  • drawing up questioning, affirmative and negative sentences;
  • use of Present Perfect to validate knowledge in context . . in conversation or writing;
  • the tension of irregular verbs with a focus on the form of past communion;
  • filling missing parts in a sentence to confirm the understanding of the structure;
  • conversion of sentences from other times into Present Perfect for a better understanding of its use;
  • practicing the rules of use with a focus on cases where Present Perfect is used for actions that occurred at some indefinite point in time but are related to the present;
